Thanks for the interesting article. After a brief foray to Costa Rica at the March Break, I realize more vividly how many little pockets of humanity are scattered about which we don't often hear about in North America- your article sheds light on yet another "utopian" community which did not work out quite as planned.

Between 1977 and 1982 we spent a few years in Asunción/Paraguay. One of the Fischer clan, Helga Fischer, now married to a Paraguayan and a happy mother, was then our most wonderful and faithful housemaid - perfect in German, Spanish and Guaraní and, of course, householding and child care. We once took Helga with us to Germany, so she could see the (fortunately no longer purely Aryan) land of her forefathers. My wife and son visited Nueva Germania (in 1980) together with Helga, met her mother and father and relatives - were deeply impressed. We still keep photos of that adventurous trip ... One of the boys on those photos, says my son (now 35), could well be Willi. We all enjoyed that article and find it absolutely realistic and unbiased. Paraguay today? I haven't seen the results of yesterday's presidential elections yet ...

Nueva Germania now wonderland, a paradise were birds sing and the wind plays with all shapes of leaves and tranquil, calm plays musical notes. No one who has not lived it knows, the beauty and rich life that people live in Nueva Germania, no question, this paradise comes with a price, for sure. I do know Willy and his aunt Helga, I was born in Nueva Germania, and I visited Nueva Germania just a few months ago. Many people refer to Nueva Germania what it supposed to be. Very little, they know the real Nueva Germania.
