I thought that this short-story was interesting. It portrays the way some families behave with one another, and how people seek solace in things that seem new and exciting.
I, however, have one question after reading this: why is this story called 'Kawabata'? There is no reference to it within the text.
Great short story! Or is it part of a larger work? It certainly had me transfixed, wanting for the characters to reveal more of themselves. The sparse, lonely setting is nicely juxtaposed with the warm hospitality of the B&B woman—matchmaker? I may seek out some more of Alexis's writing after this one.
