The First Solar-powered Atlantic Crossing Begins

          Facebook         Stumble        RSS

Just sit right back and you’ll read a tale,
a tale of a first-time trip—
It’s starting from a Spanish port,
on a solar-powered ship.
The mate builds boats in Switzerland;
the skipper’s a yachtsman sure.
Five passengers set sail this month
for a trans-Atlantic tour, a trans-Atlantic tour.
They’ll stop in the West Indies,
Then almost be home free;
The fourteen-metre catamaran
Is bound for NYC. It’s bound for NYC.
The journey will take several months,
so the boat arrives next spring,
With a doctor... a zoologist too...
a historian... who hugs trees...
No movie stars, but professors and science men—
Solar energy, ahoy!
