Over $1 million in cash will be up for grabs at the inaugural World Series of Video Games, which kicks off with the MillionManLan competition in Louisville, Kentucky, the first of several events before the final stage in December. The MillionManLan event traditionally attracts thousands of gamers armed with comfy leather chairs, cases of ultra-caffeinated beverages, and trunkloads of hardware. This year’s World Series is for XBox and PC only, thanks to sponsorship deals with Microsoft and Intel that left rivals Sony and Nintendo out of the loop. While the vast majority of competitors are young men, at least one woman will be on hand: Alexis, the on-site massage therapist, who gives $1-a-minute massages to relieve tension in those cramping hands.
