This entire blog is very chick-like and slightly winging. I'll keep reading just so long as it doesn't turn into a consensus building, drum beating sing song.

Men:
Take out the garbage
Cut the grass
and make a big deal about doing the smallest bit of housework
Kill animals for food (have, would, could or should)
Cook on BBQ's
Pretend they like Ani Defranco to get laid (except for the 10% who don't need to)
Have a lower pain thresh hold
only apologize if they've really fucked up - unless of course they happen to be quasi men - pc SNAGS who apologize for everything, build consensus and listen to ani defranco because they really like that garbage.
say 'retarded' because it is a word that describes behavior of most of their friends at some time or another

In fact, I’m not sure the feminine virtues of faith, hope, charity, sharing and caring are an adequate substitute.

I was all in agreement with you until I got to this part. I hope you weren't thinking when you wrote that.

Hey, I like your blog, I followed the link from jezebel. I have to say, it's interesting AND amusing. For those of us who have spent some time thinking about how sexism has affected us as women, it's refreshing to find men (and "men" here is a compliment!) who are thinking about how the current definitions of their gender have affected their decisions.
Anyway, thanks, keep it up!

thank you for starting this discussion its about (insert swear word here) TIME !! :D
i am a 30 something and honestly i am glad you are talking like this .. in my belief a man is a mix of both sets of qualities; off course there should be a balance, not always the case.. but try to. cant wait to read how the "stare in the face with manhood" turns out !

there's a growing awareness about the limits to traditional norms of masculinity because not only is it very limiting and degrading, but boring. i write/work/organize a bit in this area and if interested see:

aren't you aiming a bit high on those supposedly feminine virtues of faith, hope and charity? I thought those were the three theological virtues, not necessarily feminine. but I guess womanliness is next to godliness, while manliness is far from cleanliness...

I hate to rain on your opening post parade, but I happen to know Deep Funk personally, and he does indeed own a race horse. Other than that...very nicely done.
