It's ridiculously cheap because the fermentation process is chemically sped up. Something of a product of Korea's rapid industrialization where people wanted something that will get them wasted as cheapy and as quickly as possible. Once a company tried to make soju the traditional way, you know with rice or potatos, natural fermentation, all that good stuff, etc. It ended up costing $30 a bottle and no one bought it. On soju.
