Presenting: The Hate Crown. on 12seconds.tv
Today the blogosphere is so charged, so polarized, and so filled with haters hating that it’s simply not worth it. I’d rather watch from the sidelines and be involved in a smaller, more personal, conversation.
Calacanis, netlebrity and Maholo search founder/spammer, has quit blogging. In the social-net world news of his blog-retirement hit as hard as Knox and Vivian Jolie-Pitt hit everyone else. Calacanis claims he just wants more time with his family (awwwww!). I think he is a bold-faced liar.
He doesn’t miss his wife. It isn’t that there are all of a sudden greater numbers of “haters hating. It’s simply that the haters have defeated him. They have entirely won. The intent of each and every blog post calling him out has been to silence his self-importance and haughtiness. Instead of standing and taking it like a blogger, he crumpled limply. Engagement, challenge and self-reflection is the name of the game online. He just couldn’t hack it.
Crybaby Calacanis. Safe now in his little ass-kissing personal conversations with middle-class white men like himself to fester and categorize you, me, and everyone into tiny controllable units.
I, on the other hand, adore haters. I am, after all, a hating hater myself! Nothing inspires me to write or analyze more than some hate. And so, in honour of Crybaby Calacanis and to salute hate, I present my first Chantelle Hating Haters award to Lisa B. who responded to my own hateful post (how perfect!) against Mashable:
Lisa B. Says:May 13th, 2008 at 2:07 pm
Slow news day, or you really just that angry with yourself?
First of all, after skimming thru your diatribe, it’s probably a good thing you’ll never have a kid. If you’re not interested in parenting, then why read a post about Mother’s Day? seriously. Only to complain - trying to sound all hip and cool along the way.
Secondly, not all of those sites listed were sites for moms - Sugar, Glam, etc. Those are sites for all women, single, married, and moms. Caution: they may talk about parenting and having children. Celebrity moms are hot these days…
Fortunately, most women don’t feel the way you express. And I certainly wouldn’t use a tech blog post like Mashable’s to assert my skewed sense of femininity and how far from bearing children I’d ever want to be. One can be a feminist without losing femininity. You’re trying to hard, sister.
On a positive note, that’s a pretty funny photoshop you did of Pete Cashmore. Is the collage of your vagina and beside his extended tongue meant to suggest something? Perhaps therein lies some of the frustration.
Get well soon.
Fantastic, right? Especially when she burns me on lusting for Cashmore.
I am ashamed to say I merely responded to Lisa B. with sarcastic thanks and by proving her completely wrong. This hate award is not sarcastic at all. It is intended with pure heart and hate-welcoming open arms:
Lisa B. this is an EPIC WIN for you. You are my first Queen of Chantelle Hating Haters 2008!*
NOTE: If you would like an invite to the brand new Twitter of Video, 12seconds.tv that I used to record the Hate Crown, I have some to give to anyone who leaves a truly hateful comment.
