The noir novel has long been a staple of urban American fiction. But what about Canada? The Walrus asked Canadian novelists to sketch their cities as grittier, sexier, and darker than you might ever have imagined.

Join host and award-winning actor Nicholas Campbell, editor Ken Alexander and authors Austin Clarke, Heather O'Neill, and Greg Hollingshead, among others, for an evening of noir sketches, smokey jazz by the incomparable Molly Johnson, cold beer, fine wine, smart talk, and urban fare.

Fearless. Witty. Thoughtful. Canadian. All this, and noir, too.

Many thanks to all who participated in The Dark City, in benefit of The Walrus Foundation
—it was a great night of noir!
